No Hawaiian kitchen is complete without a store of salt. As an island community, the value of this incredible gift of the sea has long been appreciated and shared. Traditionally, sea salt was used to bless outbound canoe voyages and is still gifted today as a symbol of blessing and good fortune. In addition to its cultural importance and well known flavor-enhancing properties, sea salt also offers trace minerals such as magnesium and potassium, which are vital to the functions of the human body.
Our sea salts are all deep sea-harvested, here in Hawai'i, well off of the coasts of Kona (on the Big Island) and Moloka'i (the Friendly Island). The minimal impact of human activity and influence in these particular waters is what makes them ideal locations for harvesting the purest, richest salts.
