These fabulous, fluffy Almond Snickerdoodle cookies by 'Ulu & Kalo Bakery feature locally-grown and milled 'ulu flour.


'Ulu (Breadfruit) & Kalo (Taro) are complex carbohydrates brought to Hawai'i on kanaka 'ōiwi (indigenous Hawaiian) canoes. They are more than just a source of food; they are symbols of resilience and are physical manifestations of gods in Hawaiian mythology. Canoe plants sustained the thriving population of Hawai'i before foreign contact, but today we import more than 90% of our food. By returning to the roots of Hawaiian culture, we can become resilient again. It is our kuleana (responsibility) to take care of the land, and in turn, it will take care of us.


'Ulu & Kalo bakery sources kalo from Ho'okua'āina & they harvest 'ulu from the community.
