ʻŌhelo ʻai ( Vaccinum reticulatum) is a native Hawaiian shrub with small, tart berries that are cherished for making pies and jams. This close relative of blueberries and cranberries can be found in upland areas where it thrives in volcanic soils and is an important food source for nēnē, the Hawaiian goose.
