Manu o kū are charismatic seabirds that nest in urban Honolulu. Also known as white terns (Gygis alba), manu o kū fly out to sea to catch fish, and fly back over the city to return to their roosting trees. Manu o kū have a peculiar way of nesting-- they simply lay an egg directly on a tree branch without bothering to actually build a nest! Quirky yet elegant birds to say the least.
